Y. Hata & Company founded in Hilo in 1913 is today the state’s largest locally owned foodservice distributor. The Hata family continues to own and manage the business from seven locations spread over all major islands. The four different value propositions we offer to our Customers are as the primary supplier to locally and nationally owned commercial foodservice operators and hotels; or as the supplier to the DOE and the United States Military; or at ChefZone® as a Cash & Carry operation to serve the needs of smaller operators as well as emergency availability for all operators; and finally at King Specialty Foods as a local source of hard to find items that allow Customers to add variety to their menus.
