HFIA Quarterly Membership Meeting Agenda:

The 30^th Annual Made in Hawaii Festival was a great success. HFIA Executive Director will give an update on the outcome of the Festival. 

Featured guest speakers with updates on recent changes to coffee labeling regulations and macadamia nut labeling regulations. 

Richard will be joining us to provide some additional information on the recently eneacted changes to macadamia nut labeling laws. 

For the past 30 years the State of Hawaii has statutorily regulated the uses of its geographic names, such as "Kona", on labels of its specialty agricultural products but has required only ten per cent of that product to originate from Kona. 

The Hawaii State Department of Agriculture wanted to conduct an independent study to assess the economic impact of Hawaii's coffee labeling laws on local coffee farmers and the local coffee industry. After decades of arguing, the GUILD Consulting study helped the legislature achieve a new formula on State coffee products. 

Speakers will discuss this Hawaii State economic study and its research and findings.
